Linda Riley Mitchell, chief financial officer, Chicago Housing Authority

Linda Riley Mitchell has joined the Chicago Housing Authority as chief financial officer. She brings to the job, extensive experience in treasury, bond financing, external assurance and administration. In her most recent role as CFO of the Illinois State Board of Education, Mitchell managed a staff of 160 in areas including finance, technology and school business consulting. This included the implementation of an intricate student customer information system that today tracks the education of two million students statewide. Formerly the vice president of finance services for the Tribune Co., Mitchell also was CFO of the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority. She presided over a $1.6 billion capital plan for the expansion of the McCormick Place and the development of Navy Pier. Mitchell, a CPA, completed the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government Executive Leadership Program for Educators and is graduate of Marquette University.
