The Discipline of an Olympic Athlete

An Olympic athlete applies great self-discipline--doing what is right regardless of whether or not he wants to, because each little decision affects the long-term goal. An athlete also exercises self-denial-- giving up freedom to certain behaviors because although immediate gratification may be pleasurable, the long-term goal is more important and worth more to him.
