Experience Kaikoura Seafest This October
If there's one thing Kaikoura is famous for it is their connection to the sea and especially seafood, it's name even means "to eat crayfish". Located on the upper east coast of the South Island, Kaikoura is part of the North Canterbury region and has a strong history with whaling, as well as being a place of spiritual significance to Maori. Whilst there has not been any whaling in the region for decades, you can now enjoy their majesty and beauty by partaking in a whale watch tour which also includes other sea life, including dolphins and native birds.
