Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia left Monday's game against the Tigers prior to the sixth inning due to a jammed right thumb, likely as a result of a diving play he made an inning earlier.
Pedroia made a stellar play to get to a sharp Danny Worth grounder that was going away from him and into the outfield, and he was able to throw out the Detroit second baseman to end the top of the fifth inning. Nick Punto replaced him at second base to begin the top of the sixth.
